With a week before the Iowa caucus, New Jersey Senator, and possible vice presidential pick, Cory Booker on Sunday announced his support for Hillary Clinton as president—claiming she is the best candidate for the job.

According to reports, Booker had an informal lunch with the Democratic hopeful at a restaurant in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on Sunday. Speculation by many political observers is that the ex- Newark mayor and popular freshman senator may be on the short list of vice presidential contenders should Clinton win the Democratic nomination—a feat the most recent polls suggest may occur.

During a brief press conference, Booker, 46, said he has family ties in the Hawkeye state. “This is the land where my grandmother was born and raised in Des Moines, Iowa {the capital of Iowa},” he said. “She is dancing in heaven at the prospect that the next President of the United States is going to be Hillary Rodham Clinton.”
