The world’s most famous ballerina is married. Misty Copeland, 33, wed her longtime beau, Olu Evans, 38, in an intimate ceremony of about 100 at the romantic Montage Hotel in Laguna Beach on Sunday.
Copeland, who an E! News insider described as looking like an “ethereal goddess,” walked down the aisle in a custom gown designed by Inbal Dror paired with Christian Louboutin shoes.
Evans, a corporate attorney, and Copeland have been dating for 10 years. The couple met in 2006 when Evans’ cousin, actor Taye Diggs, encouraged Evans to ask Copeland to dance at a New York City nightclub.
In an interview with Elle, Copeland said of Evans: “He taught me to communicate in ways I'd never learned before, to not run away from problems, and sit down and think about things critically. And he made me feel like I really did have a bright future as a ballerina.”
In June 2015, Copeland made history when she became the first African-American principal dancer in the 75 year history of the American Ballet Theatre.
